MYSO Senior Rashad Harris






Rashad Harris is a senior at Murrah High School in Jackson, MS where he is an active member of the Battalion Staff of JROTC. He recently attended the National Flight Academy, a program authorized by the United States Navy designed to spark interest and curiosity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills. He was interviewed by the Academy and awarded for his performance.


Rashad is a ninth year member of the Power APAC (Academic and Performing Arts program) Orchestra where he plays the viola and has been a member of the Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra for five seasons. Rashad participated in the Jackson Heart Study at Tougaloo College, an intensive college preparatory program, where he completed SLAM (Science, Language Arts and Mathematics) levels I, II and III and received numerous of awards.



Rashad is an active member at Cade Chapel M. B. Church where he serves on the Cade Media Team, Youth Council, Youth Usher, and Sunday School. He is also an entrepreneur and runs his own freelance photography business. Rashad was awarded two Scholastic Gold Keys for artistic vision by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nation's largest, longest-running, most prestigious visual and literary arts program recognizing creative accomplishments of students in grades 7–12.


Rashad is the son of Terrie and Randy Harris. He plans to attend Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, MS in the fall of 2020 where he plans to major in psychology. Congratulations, Rashad!
